Project Cornerstone
Project Cornerstone, a YMCA of Silicon Valley initiative, builds on 40 Developmental Assets* that help children thrive. At Dilworth, Project Cornerstone reinforces connections between students and caring parents/adults by promoting an asset-building lifestyle and providing strategies and tools that enable both children and adults to thrive.
Project Cornerstone is in its eight year at Dilworth in 2023-2024. In 2016-2017, ten parent volunteers became readers for the ABC Reading program. We now have more than 20 parents volunteering!
* Developmental Asset describes a universal human need like support, empowerment, boundaries and expectations, constructive use of time, commitment to learning, positive values, positive social interactions, and positive identity.
You can get involved too! If you would like to learn more about Project Cornerstone and become an ABC Reader in one of our classrooms, please reach out to Cole Borgia, Volunteer Coordinator for Dilworth, borgia_cole@cusdk8.org.
